India slams OIC for unacceptable commentsIndia on Monday slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its “unacceptable” comments on the judgment in the case of Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, who has been awarded life imprisonment for terror funding.
Malik had pleaded guilty for terror funding crimes and was convicted of terror funding, spreading terrorism, and secessionist activities in the Valley in 2017. Malik, who headed the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), was handed a life sentence by a court Delhi on Wednesday.
The OIC’s Independent Human Rights Commission (OIC-IHRC) had expressed “deep concern” over the 56-year-old’s Malik’s sentencing in terror funding case.
Reacting to the OIC's statements, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Friday said, “India finds unacceptable the comments by OIC-IPHRC today criticising India for judgement in the case of Yasin Malik. Through these comments, OIC-IPHRC has implicitly expressed support for terrorist activities of Yasin Malik, which were documented and presented in the court.”
The statement added that the world seeks ‘zero tolerance’ of terrorism and urged the OIC not to justify terror activities in any manner.
The MEA said the OIC had “implicitly expressed support for terrorist activities of Yasin Malik, which were documented and presented in the court.”
