Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases, a youth activist group Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) has taken the initiative to provide every possible assistance to Covid-19 positive patients in Dehradun.
Talking about this initiative, the founder of the group, Abhijay Negi said that the group started this initiative on April 18 to provide help to Covid positive patients in Dehradun city. A member of the group, Karan Kapoor informed that 60 members of the group are actively working 24 hours to provide help to Covid patients whether it is related to unavailability of beds and oxygen in hospitals besides the issues of ICU and food. He said that there are 20 members who are involved in gathering and preparing a database of the information that can help Covid patients during this second wave of the pandemic. "There is so much information circulating on the digital platforms which at times causes panic among people as very few verify such information. We have even seen cases where people asked for help for the covid patients of the last year. So, we have 20 members who constantly work on verifying the available information regarding Covid-19 besides collecting the data about the availability and requirement of various things and services," stated Kapoor. He said that their team receives queries from time to time regarding food, medicines, plasma donors and oxygen etc. The MAD volunteers have prepared a database on the basis of which they try to fulfil the requirements with the help of the data of those who can make these things available to the patients. As per the information provided by Kapoor, the MAD group has facilitated over 130 oxygen-aided beds, ICU beds and over 30 plasma donors to the Covid positive patients.
