As the number of Covid-related deaths and fresh cases rose to a record high in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced to increase the weekend curfew by 24 hours as it will now commence from Friday 8 pm and will end at 7 am on Tuesday.
Earlier, the curfew was from Friday night to Monday morning.
The decision was taken during the routine Team 11 meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said, “Despite more and more people getting cured we have to be more vigilant. Corona curfew is very useful in reducing infection prevalence and it will be implemented across the State.”He said during the weekend curfew only essential services will operate. Industrial activities and vaccination work will continue during this period.
Meanwhile, all political/sports/entertainment/religious gatherings will be prohibited. Only 50 people to be allowed at weddings, 20 at funerals. Malls, cinema halls, restaurants, bars, sports complexes and gyms, etc, to remain shut.
All public transport, including rail, metro, buses, cabs to run at 50 per cent capacity. Both public and private offices allowed up to 50 per cent of staff in office, the statement said.
Markets, shopping malls, and restaurants to also remain closed. No religious places will be opened.
