Tehsildar held as Rs 2.71-crore assets found

The Vigilance police had on March 26 intercepted Bangirposi Tehsildar Abhimanyu Panda and recovered cash of RS 2.57 lakh from his possession as he could not account for it satisfactorily.

Following interception, Panda’s house at Mallikashpur in Baleswar district and house at native village Chuapada under the Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district were searched. In course of search and inventory, Panda and his family members were found in possession of assets worth Rs 2.71 crore. This included a triple-storied building, 27 plots of land, three two-wheelers, investment in different insurance policies, deposits in banks and post offices, gold ornaments, cash of over Rs 26 lakh and household articles. His two bank lockers are yet be opened.Later, Panda was arrested and forwarded to court.
