As many as 12 more patients in the State succumbed to Covid-19 on Thursday, the record daily tally so far. With this, the total toll increased to 2,029. The deceased included a 38-year-old man of Angul district, a 60-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man of Bhubaneswar (Khordha district), a 47-year-old man and a 40-year-old man of other parts of Khordha district, a 53-year-old man of Keonjhar, a seven-year-old child and a 67-year-old man of Puri, a 52-year-old man and a 32-year-old man of Rayagada, a 67-yer-old man of Sundargarh and a 46-year-old woman of Cuttack.
And on the day, the State recorded 6,998 positive cases in 30 districts and the State pool, with which the total tally surged to 4,35,513. This was less by over 1,000 compared to Wednesday’s count.
Out of the new cases, 4,054 were detected from quarantine and 2,944 were local contacts. Khordha district recorded the day’s maximum 919 cases followed by Cuttack 517, Sundargarh 474, Nuapada 420, Jharsuguda 396, Bargarh 330, Angul 325, Sambalpur 323, Mayurbhanj 308, Kalahandi 292, Puri 288, Nabarangpur 255, Balangir 236, Jajpur 226, Rayagada 181, Keonjhar 160, Subarnapur 131, Ganjam 128, Gajapati 121, Nayagarh 121 and Jagatsinghpur 104.
Besides, 185 cases were reported from the State-pool.Currently, the active cases in the State stood at 57,710 and the cumulative samples tested were 1,00,41,204 samples, including 44,064 on Wednesday.
However, 4,679 patients recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 3,80,400.
