State extends lockdown for 16 days till Jun 17

The State Government on Sunday extended the lockdown for another 16 days from 5 am of June 1 till 5 am of June 17. However, there shall be complete shutdown on weekends starting 6 pm of Fridays till 5 am of Mondays.

While announcing this, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra said lockdown is primarily aimed at restricting movement of persons. Goods carriers shall not be affected.

Mahapatra said that though Covid-19 cases are in a decreasing trend in a few western Odisha districts, it is still in an alarming level in coastal districts. “Because of timely lockdown, we have arrested further spread of infection and especially due to last 28 days lockdown.” However, all types of shops excluding shops in malls, market complexes, weekly haats and salons, barber shops, spas, beauty parlours, etc., shall remain open in Sundargarh, Nuapada and Gajapati districts from 7 am to 1 pm on weekdays from Monday to Friday, he said.

In rest of districts, only street corner, road-side shops, standalone shops dealing with food and essential items, vegetables, fish, meat, and eggs and milk are allowed to operate on weekdays from Monday to

Friday between 7 am to 11 am. However, weekly and daily haats shall be prohibited.The Government has decided that testing, tracking and containment shall be undertaken by the local authorities like district Collector and Municipal Commissioners. During lockdown period, subject to availability, vaccination shall continue in places as notified by Health and Family Welfare Department from time to time. Eligible persons, as advised by  department shall travel to Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) on their own.

People coming to Odisha from other States by personal, hired vehicles (two, three or four-wheelers)/ trains/ buses/ air/ waterways, etc., or entering State in any other mode shall have to produce Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) (-ve)/ RT PCR (-ve) reports obtained within 48 hours before entering Odisha/ final vaccination certificate.

People coming without such report shall have to undergo 7 days mandatory home/ institutional quarantine/ paid quarantine.
