In protest against the shooting of senior advocate Manoj Jha of Ranchi Bar Association by unknown criminals, members of District Bar Association Chaibasa, took out a silent procession under the leadership of Anil Kumar Mahato.
The silent procession started from the Bar Association office and passed through Jain Market Chowk, Sadar Thana Chowk, Post Office Chowk, and ended at Court Road. After this, a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner regarding the incident and demanding Advocate Protection Act.
In the silent procession, mainly senior advocate SK Pati, Satish Chandra Mahato, Pradeep Kumar Vishwakarma, Rajkumar Prajapati, Taj Khan, NN Pandey, Chaturbhuj Pareek, Basant Kesari, Pradeep Sharma, Vikram Munda, Kesar Parvez, Nag, Ashish Sinha, Raja Ram Gupta, Mangal Singh Melgundi, Arun Prajapati, Sarfaraz Khan, Mahesh Nishad, Bhupesh Mahto, Sachin Bhati, Devnandan Singh Yadav, Pranav Daripa, Mahadev Sharma, Keshav Prasad, Surendra Das, Rakesh Pandey, Anish Ahmed, besides a large number of advocates were present.
Jha was in Tamar on July 26, when some miscreants opened fire and shot him down while he was sitting in his car.
Meanwhile, there is resentment in the legal fraternity across the city condemning the murder of advocate.
Meanwhile, the Jamshedpur Bar Association observed a pen down strike. The members have condemned the incident and demanded action against those involved.
