Shreemandir shut for devotees on Sundays

Wednesday, 31 March 2021 | PNS | PURI

Devotees would no more be allowed to enter the Jagannath Temple for darshan on Sundays from next week, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Krishan Kumar here.

To curb spread of Covid-19, the temple will be sanitised on every Sunday as it used to be after reopening of the temple in December last year.

The decision regarding restriction on devotees’ entry inside the shrine was taken at Chhatisa Nijog meeting held on March 23. At the meeting, the SJTA had given permission for holding of rituals of Agniutsav at the shrine on March 27 and Dola Purnima on March 28. The meeting was attended by the district Collector and the SP, among others.
