Around four shops that had come up on a Government land near steel gate were gutted in fire on Monday late night.
Dhanbad sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Satyendra Kumar said that police are investigating the cause of fire that broke out around 9.30 pm .
Kumar had visited the spot late on Monday night after being informed by local MLA.
The incident spot happens to be next to the SNMMCH.Two persons who received injuries have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
However, police have recovered a pistol and some cartridges from the incident spoton Tuesday morning suspecting that it was handiwork of miscreants.
Though it's still not clear what caused the fire but it aggravated due to a blast in illegally stored mini LPG cylinders in one of the shops and about 50 cans of mustard oil that caught fire.
The cans were stored in a grocery shop next to the mini cylinders shop. The sound of blasts of cylinders could be heard up to 2km radius.
Firefighters took more than six hours to douse the fire.
Recovery of a pistol suggests that some miscreants too were there inside the market area.
