In order to produce compost and compressed biogas by processing biodegradable fraction of solid waste, South Delhi Municipal Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Enviro Integrated Solutions Limited on Monday.
A senior SDMC official said that the proposed plant will be able to process 300 TDP bio-degradable fraction of solid waste.
The capacity of the plant will be augmented to 500 TPD in the second phase. He said that the civic agency is committed to dispose of solid waste generated from its area in a scientific manner. The recent move will not only help in disposing of the Solid Waste properly but will help in producing Compost and Bio-CBG, he added.
It may be noted that the concession agreement was signed between erstwhile MCD and IL&FS on 1st May 2007 for "Upgradation, operation and maintenance of 200 TPD Composting facility at Okhla with a concession period of 25 years. Area of the plot of the existing compost plant is about 7 acres.
The present compost plant is being operated with capacity of 200 TPD of MSW which now is being upgraded to 300 TDP with CBG which is being received from all the four Zones of the SDMC.
