The Senior Citizen Welfare Society (SCWS) office bearers met the director general of police, Ashok Kumar and submitted a memorandum requesting various measures for the welfare of senior citizens and society. Considering the cases of senior citizens being harassed in their families, the society requested that an advisory committee be formed for counseling in such cases. Senior citizens' help desks should be established in all police stations to hear matters related to them. The SCWC president Dr Atul Joshi informed that the committee also requested that one day in a month be set for senior citizens to raise their issues with the police. All senior citizens should be registered through the national helpline so that the police are aware of senior citizens living alone and to enable the aged to contact the police station or special numbers in case of need. Citing the recent cases of cyber crimes targeting the elderly, the society suggested that a special drive be conducted to raise awareness among senior citizens regarding cyber crimes. SCWS chief patron Sushila Baluni was also a part of the delegation which met the DGP.
