A Government-run primary school in Cuttack district, which remained closed for around 10 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has shockingly received an electricity bill of a whopping Rs 5.87 crore. The bill issued by the Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) to the Sisua Project Upper Primary School under Kantapada block of the district has charged the mammoth Rs 5,87,12,580 (rebated amount) for electricity usage. The date for availing the rebate is February 17 while school would have to pay Rs 5,92,82,212 in case of payment after deadline.
Taken aback by bill, school authorities approached local TPCODL office seeking clarification over matter. The headmistress of school has been told byTPCODL employees to clear dues or else electricity supply would be disconnected. Gopalpur Electrical Sub-Division SDO Chhabila Behera said this incidence might have been due to a technical error in generation of the bill. .
