The Civil Engineering Department of Rabindranath Tagore University organized a two-day online workshop on Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
In this workshop Vikas Asawat, Patent Expert and Mona Purohit, Dean Law Faculty, Barkatullah University, Bhopal attended as subject matter experts.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of RNTU Vice Chancellor Brahmaprakash Pethia and Registrar Vijay Singh.
At the beginning of the workshop, Sanjeev Gupta, Dean Engineering and Technology RNTU and Coordinator workshop welcomed all the guests and said that the purpose of this workshop is to give participants Information about various dimensions related to innovation and IPR such as trademarks, geographical index patents and research is to be given.
Expert in the workshop Vikas Asawat said that patent trademarks, copyrights and designs are important IPRs for any business or institute. Their statutory right is necessary. In general, people do not have the information to apply.
He discussed in detail the need for IPR, the need for trademarks and copyrights, various IPR third party concepts for business. He said that IPR is the creation of any knowledge or product on which a person claims to be a monopoly according to law. There is a need to create awareness in all sections of the society about the economic, social and cultural benefits of IPR.
On the second day, Mona Purohit explained the process of filing the patent to the participants. She noted the difference between trademarks and GI tags. Also highlighted research possibilities in this field. She also informed about the efforts made by the government for the protection of IPR.
The coordinator of the workshop was Prof. of Civil Engineering Department. Narendra Dudhe and co-ordinator Prof. Rachna was Bajaj. A vote of thanks was given by Prof. Kapil Soni, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Co-coordinator of the workshop.
