Water Resources, Fisheries Welfare and Fisheries Development Minister Tulsiram Silawat said that better irrigation facility is being provided to farmers for doubling their income.
The total irrigated area in the state has now increased to 41 lakh hectares from 7.7 lakh in the year 2005. The irrigated land is 34.55 lakh hectares.
After the reply of the Minister budgetary demands of Rs 436 crore of Water Resources department were passed in the State Assembly with voice vote on Tuesday.
The government is providing all the necessary resources to double the income of farmers by making resources better and due to inclusive and prosperous development in the state, the area of irrigation in the state has to be increased to 45 lakh hectare by 2024-25.
At present, 27 large, 47 medium and 303 minor irrigation projects under the department are under under construction , with a total irrigation capacity of 23.45 lakh hectares.
The total cost of the projects is 57801 crores. According to the priority of 10 schemes of the state under the "Water to every farm" component under "Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sanchai Yojana" by the Government of India has been selected.
Under the self-initiated Bharath Samayan initiated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh has set target to develop irrigation potential of 15000 hectares till 31 May 2021.
Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to implement schemes based on the pressure irrigation system using pressurized flow.
In Madhya Pradesh's Bundelkhand region, to increase water level, Bhujal scheme has been started, 9 development blocks of 6 districts of Bundelkhand will be benefited.
