A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore at the RRCAT Convention Centre on November 5, 2021. Prof Sanjay Dixit, Dean & CEO, MGM Medical College and Dr Shankar Vinayak Nakhe, Director, RRCAT signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
According to Dr S V Nakhe, “RRCAT has a small but very dedicated team that is actively engaged in and has expertise and facilities for research in various areas of biophotonics. The team has come out with very good research output as well as ‘point of care’ instruments like ‘Oncodiagnoscope’ and ‘Tuberculoscope’ which will be very helpful for societal health in our country. Transfer of Technology to private sector and public sector units has also taken place. These are RRCAT’s contributions towards an ‘Atmanirbhar’ India. The association between these two premier institutions will not only help each other but also society at large.”
According to Dr Sanjay Dixit, “This MoU will benefit not only our students, doctors, interns, nursing and paramedical staff but also the common man which is our mission. There are many areas where MGMMC can use the technologies being developed at RRCAT Indore.”According to Dr Shovan Maujmder, Head, Laser Biomedical Applications Division and Professor, Homi Bhabha National Institute “The MoU will develop a synergy of bio-photonic research efforts and medical professional efforts thereby helping to transfer the fruits of research efforts from lab to the society. MGMMC will be sending its doctors, interns, paramedical and nursing staff, research fellows, MBBS/ BDS/ MD/ MS/ MDS students to pursue research/projects at RRCAT in all areas of Medical Science, Bioscience and Biomedical Engineering.
Both institutions will carry out collaborative research activities in the areas of mutual interest. In addition, the researchers from both the institutes will be able to carry out their research/ project work using facilities and expertise at both the institutes, namely, RRCAT and MGMMC. The duration of research work at respective campuses would be decided through mutual discussion by the research supervisors on either side."
