Retired doctors in Palamu are setting an example by taking Covishield jabs with no sign of reluctance. President of the Indian Medical Association, Palamu, Dr. Arun Shukla took the shot on Friday and went back to his clinic to attend patients after spending some minutes under observation.
Shukla said he felt nothing. It was like any prick. He said he assured the caring staff there at the jab site that he is capable of taking care of him.
Noted retired doctors like B N Ojha, M P Singh and Awadesh Kumar Singh also took the shots, informed Shukla.
On Monday Palamu is going to start its third vaccination site at Panki community health centre. There are 325 health workers and doctors in Panki, said M K Prasad medical officer in charge.
District reproductive child health officer Anil Kr Singh said, “We are in a position to open session site and Panki will be opened this Monday. He said this Panki session site will be in addition to the already functioning two sites one in Daltonganj and the other in Hussainabad. Chainpur session site has been wound up following a near target of 276 jabs achieved here.”
Civil surgeon Palamau John F Kennedy said the regional vaccine store here in Daltonganj has received a consignment of more than 23, 000 doses of the Covishield vaccine which will be distributed among three districts – Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu.
