As many as181 Corona positive cases were reported inRayagada district on Thursday, which is the highest daily load so farin the second wave of Covid-19. The merchants of Rayagada town including street vendors, vegetableshops, hoteliers, jewellers, crusher owners, etc have decided to opentheir shops from 10 am and continue till 2 pm till May 10 after whichthe decision will be reviewed.
The office bearers of the Merchants’ Association met districtCollector Saroj Mishra, ADM Sarat Panda and SP Vivekananda Sharma,besides other officials and informed about their decision. Theadministration agreed to the initiative.Out of 181 positive cases in the district, Rayagada Municipality and Rayagada block reported 60 cases. There are a total of 886 active cases and 54 deaths till date in the district. 8,985cases have recovered and were discharged. Muniguda and Gunupur reported 36 and 30 positive cases, respectively.
Two days’ weekend shutdown in urban local bodies like Rayagada Municipality, Gudari and Gunupur NACs has been imposed. Taking into consideration the situation in JK Pur, where JK paper mills is situated, the weekend shutdown was extended to JK Pur also.
As there is heavy exodus of migrants from Chhattisgarh to Muniguda, the number of positive cases is continuously increasing. So the weekend shutdown has also been extended for Muniguda town.
