Ranchi-Chopan express begins on Lohardaga-Tori route

Saturday, 13 November 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

State BJP unit president Deepak Prakash on Friday accused the Congress party of only talking about the welfare of tribals to get their votes without actually doing anything for them, and added that the BJP, on the other hand, was committed to the development of the community. Prakash said that the NDA government is working fast on the expansion of infrastructure facilities in remote, inaccessible areas.

The BJP president said this after flagging off the Ranchi Chopan train via Lohardaga Tori route. The train operates thrice a week from Ranchi Railway Station. The flagging of Ranchi Chopan train via Lohardaga Tori route is the second train in the past two days to start operations via this new route.

Earlier, on Thursday BJP parliamentarians including Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Rajya  Sabha members Deepak Prakash, Mahesh Poddar, Ranchi MLA CP Singh and Railway DRM Pradeep Gupta flagged off the Ranchi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express via Tori-Lohardaga route.

The operation of Rajdhani Express via the Lohardaga Tori route is among the long pending demands of people of Jharkhand especially those of Ranchi and Lohardga district  as they have been demanding for long.

Prakash thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening railway infrastructure in Jharkhand. He said that with the operation of the train via Lohardaga route people of the tribal district will be benefitted.

Prakash said that he will request the Railway Minister to add Lohardaga as halt for Rajdhani Express. He said that with Lohardaga as halt for Rajdhani Express people of Lohardaga, Gumla and even Jashpur of Chhattisgarh will be benefitted.

He said, “I will meet the Railway minister with the demand to have a stoppage of Rajdhani Express at Lohardaga and also running of Rajdhani express via Mesra-Barkakhana-Hazaribagh route.”

The use of the Tori line will cut travel time between Ranchi and Delhi by at least two hours, officials in Ranchi division said. The 111km- long Tori line project was conceived in 1997, but work began only in 2001. It was completed in 2017.

The successful trial on the 111km Lohardaga-Tori line took place in 2019 after laying off the alternate route to Delhi from Ranchi. Even during the peak of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, when special trains carrying oxygen were run from Ranchi to northern parts of the country, the Lohardaga-Tori line was used.

Tribal Pride day to inspire society : Munda

Union Tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda on Friday said that the country will celebrate November 15 the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Tribal Pride Day) dedicated to the memory of tribal freedom fighters. Munda said that from 15-22 November, Country will pay respect and tribute to our freedom fighters in the event. Munda said, “This will not only be in the form of an event but will also inspire the tribal society to move forward with sensitivity.” Munda fought against the exploitations of the colonial system and spearheaded a movement against British oppression calling for ulgulan (revolution).
