The District Social Security Office (DSSO) under the Social Welfare Department (SWD) is in news for its lackadaisical attitude towards its beneficiaries.
A reason is the beneficiaries, who are mostly the physically challenged, destitute, eunuch and trans-gender and coming for helps to the DSSO daily are found puzzled as they see no information board in the office. It has been a daily scene that the people are loitering here and there in the boundary of the Collector’s office and asking other people about the DSSO address. When there are information boards in front of every office within the Collectorate campus, the DSSO is running without a board for last two years. Asked about the reason of not putting an information plate, the officials of DSSO chose to avoid a response. But there is a charge that the officials have not fixed a board just to avoid rush of beneficiaries. It is interesting to note that the Government office is situated 15-meter behind the Collector’s chamber.
Like other offices in the Collectorate campus, the old billboard of DSSO was damaged in Fani cyclone of May 3, 2019. After a month of the cyclone, all offices either fixed new boards or repaired their old ones.
The DSSO had also prepared a glow sign board. But the board is still to be fixed in front of the office building even as one and a half years have already passed by.
