Uttarakhand Postal Circle recently organised National Postal Week celebrated under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the state.
Various business fairs and camps were organised by the postal department at 48 places in all the districts during the week-long celebrations.
In the programme the department made the people aware about its various schemes and a total of 2,524 new accounts were opened during this period. The Uttarakhand postal circle also distributed 45,000 bottles of Gangajal through post offices in the country during the Navratri period. The department rewarded the best performing employees in 12 different categories with certificates and cash prizes too. Two special covers were also released by the department in honour of two freedom fighters of Uttarakhand named Bishni Devi from Almora and Kalu Singh Mahra from Almora. Besides this, the department also organised an exhibition on philately at the General Post Office (GPO) in Dehradun.
On the closing day of the event on Saturday, the department organised a customer meet at different postal divisions in the state and resolved several grievances of customers.
