Monday, 11 January 2021 | PNS | Ranchi

Police have started investigating on the basis of information provided by the main accused in connection with the attack on Chief Minister, Hemant Soren’s convoy. On the third day of prime accused Bhairav Singh's remand on Sunday police interrogated him on some points and started investigation on information provided by Singh.

Ranchi City Superintendent of Police, Sourabh said that the police are investigating the case on the basis of information provided by Singh during interrogation. During the interrogation the main accused in the case gave some information regarding the blocking of the convoy of Chief Minister, Hemant Soren and the subsequent stone-pelting, he added.

Bhairav Singh, a resident of Kishoreganj and the prime accused in the case, had surrendered before a Ranchi court on Thursday.

An irate mob attacked a petrol escort vehicle of CM convoy at around 6.45 pm on January 4, at Kishoreganj Chowk in the State Capital. The protesters were shouting slogans against the failure of the police and the increasing incidents of crime against women.

After getting the information that people had gathered at the spot to protest, the security team of CM diverted the route of the CM returning home from the State Secretariat. He was taken home via Sevaa Sadan, Upper Bazaar route. This incident is being considered as a huge lapse in the CM security.

Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Kumar Jha visited the spot to investigate the matter and conducted a search operation in adjoining area along with Special Investigating Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the case. Every single place in the vicinity was searched. In the forest, dozens of police personnel were deployed in the search of the woman's severed head.

SSP, Ranchi, Surendra Kumar Jha said that the police are continuously trying to solve the case. The amount of those giving information about criminals has also been increased. This amount has now increased to 5 lakhs. The name and address of those giving information will be kept confidential.
