Palamu MP presses for adding Aligarh as Garib Rath stoppage

Monday, 01 February 2021 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Palamu MP V D Ram has shot off a letter to the union railway minister Piyush Goyal seeking stoppage for Garib Rath at Aligarh railway station.

The MP said he has sent this letter on Sunday itself.

In the letter, Ram has written that more than 100 students of his parliamentary constituency here study in the Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh. They will be benefitted if this train has a stoppage at the Aligarh railway station, the letter further stated.

The Ranchi Delhi Rajdhani train has no stoppage at Aligarh railway station. Similarly Sambalpur Jammu Tawai express train has its stoppage at Aligarh railway station but it usually runs late and arrives at Aligarh railway station around mid night, making it unsafe for girl students to travel in this train.

Garib Rath passes through Aligarh early in the morning and if it gets its stoppage at Aligarh railway station then boys and girls of Palamu studying in the Aligarh Muslim University will have no problems, said a student, Ekram Ansari.

The Garib Rath is to resume its journey from February 5. Sources said the MP has been batting for the stoppage of Garib Rath at Aligarh railway station since November 2019.

The MP said he would be hammering for the stoppage of the Garib Rath till the union railway ministry concedes to his demand for a two minute stay at Aligarh railway station.

Sources said the MP has got Sasaram Ranchi on the track much to the benefits of the daily passengers here.
