The Vigilance police on Friday conducted searches at several properties of Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, Private Secretary to a Member of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on the charge of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During the searches, assets worth Rs 3.79 crore unearthed. This included cash of Rs 13 lakh was recovered from the house of Sahoo’s brother-in-law. Two double-storied buildings, nine plots, a huge amount of cash, gold ornaments, insurance and documents relating to investments in shares and bonds were detected during the raids. “Huge amounts of cash, gold ornaments, plots (documents) and foreign currencies have been found during raid,” said a senior official, adding that further searches and verifications were continuing.
