Construction work of 21 kilometer conveyor belt for transportation of coal is being done by NTPC in other blocks including Barkagaon working in Hazaribagh district and currently its trial and testing work is going on and this process will continue for some more time.Contractors will be hired by the contractor only after the trial and testing process is over. As far as the appointment of outsiders is concerned, no outsider shall be employed amongst the unskilled category of workers in the manufacture of conveyor belts.
In this work, only the local and the family members of the displaced people will be appointed, all the above said NTPC’s high officer Vijay Kumar Juyal. A high official of NTPC further said that with the commissioning of the conveyor belt, the work of coal transportation will accelerate and will also get rid of the troubles due to transportation through roads. Conveyor belt is to be started as soon as possible as per NGT order regarding environmental issues. Rumors are also being spread by some people that due to the introduction of conveyor belts many people will become unemployed.
This is also completely baseless as the trucks will continue to operate to a certain extent even after the conveyor belt is commissioned. This would also be because the conveyor belt has a limited capacity to move coal.
Coal will be produced from Pakri Barwadih and other coal mining projects like Chatti Bariatu, Keredari and Badam and the production will increase from year to year. Those local people who are involved in the work of coal transportation will continue to get work.
Such rumors are being spread by many people that the contractor working in the conveyor belt under construction by NTPC is taking money for the recruitment of contract workers. All such statements and allegations are completely baseless and baseless.
In this context, a press release was issued by NTPC on 20 November 2021 in leading newspapers, in which people were made aware against taking money from fraudsters and anti-social elements and recruitment by taking any kind of fee. The question of giving priority to local people in employment is often raised in various forums. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 80% of the workers in Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project are displaced/local. There is a clear instruction to all the contractors working in Pakri Barwadih project to give priority to local people in employment.
