Chhattisgarh Higher Education Secretary Dhananjay Dewangan on Saturday ordered show-cause notice issued and one increment withheld to more than a dozen principals and assistant professors for not starting online classes despite a directive during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Secretary was holding a review meeting on the progress of online classes in colleges and other subjects at the Secretariat.
The performance of faculty members was reviewed. It was found that in a specified time-period, 12 assistant professors had defaulted while principals had indulged in incorrect reporting online.
After the lacunae and laxity was detected, all of them had been were issued show-cause notice, states an official communication.
The Secretary said that the primary responsibility of monitoring the online classes for students lies with the college principal. All these classes should be operated from college premises. Principals should ensure the quality and continuity.
If any assistant professor is on leave, alternative arrangements should be made to ensure the classes are held. Faculty members should take the classes as per a time-table without fail, otherwise it will be considered a dereliction of duty.
