With Delhi reported 992 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the number of beds in normal and ICU “Intensive Care Unit” is being increased to deal with the situation and urged people to take all the precaution to check the coronavirus.
“In view of Covid situation developing in Del, no of normal n ICU beds reserved for Covid is being increased in a few hospitals. This will improve bed availability We r keeping close watch and will take all steps necessary. There is nothing to worry. But pl follow all precautions,” Kejriwal tweeted.
The positivity rate stands at 2.70 per cent. These new infections pushed the tally to 660611, while 642166 patients have recovered from the virus. The active cases reached to 7429 on Tuesday, according to the health bulletin issued by the health department of the Delhi Government.
A total of 36,757 tests, including 28618 RT-PCR tests, were conducted a day ago, the bulletin said.
The number of people under home isolation rose to 4832 and containment zones rose to 1903, it said.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain had on Saturday dismissed any possibility of imposing another lockdown in the national Capital, saying it was not a solution to check the spread of the coronavirus that is again surging rapidly.
The Health Minister also said that random testing is being done at the railway station and airport to check people coming from outside to Delhi.
He urged people to follow all the safety measures to check the virus.
