Treatment of Covid-19 patients in Chhattisgarh's private hospitals will cost from Rs 6,200 to Rs 17,000 a day depending on the seriousness of the situation.
The government announced this on Monday, a day after Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel told the Health Department to fix new rates of treatment of corona patients in private hospitals.
According to the department, Rs 6,200 per day will be the cost of treatment of patients with moderate condition including for oxygen and PPE kits along with a protective care isolation bed in the National Accreditation Board of Hospitals (NABH) recognized private hospitals, a press release said.
The treatment will cost Rs 12,000 per day for ICU facility without ventilator for patients in critical condition and Rs 17,000 per day including ICU facility with ventilator for very serious patients.
At the same time, Rs 6200, Rs 10,000 and Rs 14,000 will be charged every day for the treatment of moderate, severe and very serious patients for private hospitals not recognized with NABH, the release added.
The cost of treatment of Covid-19 in private hospitals will be borne by the patients. Registration fee, cost of beds, nursing and boarding charges, fees for surgeons, anesthetists, doctors and consultants, anesthesia, blood transfusions, oxygen, OTs, charges for surgical instruments, medicines and drugs, patient’s food, prosthetic devices and implant expenses are included in the daily fee prescribed by the state government.
The rates do not include screening of Covid-19, high-end medicines, high-end diagnostic tests such as CT scans, MRIs and procedures for treatment of other serious illnesses of the patient.
Hospitals can charge a maximum of Rs 2,500 for storage and transport of bodies of Covid patients.
It is mandatory to follow guidelines of the ICMR and the Health & Family Welfare Department during treatment of Covid patients, it said.
