Public welfare can be achieved only if there is mutual understanding and trust between the government and the opposition, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey said on Friday.
She made the comment while taking part in the "Excellence Award Ceremony" organized in the Assembly. Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Ministers were among those present.
Governor Uikey said public representatives who work with honesty and dedication and are devoted to public interest definitely reap their reward.
The Governor congratulated the MLAs, parliamentary journalists and electronic media reporters who were awarded at the event.
She recalled the time when she was a MLA in Madhya Pradesh and was awarded for her work by then Governor Balram Jakhar.
She said that in a democracy, the opposition also plays a major role along with the ruling party for the progress and development of the state.
Only on the foundation of mutual understanding and mutual trust, the goal of public welfare can be achieved, she added.
Arun Vora and Saurabh Singh were awarded in the category of 'Outstanding MLA for 2019'.
Surendra Shukla, Mohan Tiwari and Deepak Sahu got the Outstanding Journalists award while Kuldeep Juneja was presented the Outstanding MLA award for 2020.
