Former MP, national vice president and president INTUC Odisha branch, president INBCWF and chairman, BWI Affiliate Council, Dr Rama Chandra Khuntia along with Regional Policy Officer BWI Asia Pacific Office Dr Rajeev Sharma met newly inducted Union Labour Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on Thursday and submitted a memorandum regarding various issues of the construction workers and unorganised workers.
They pressed for demands like ESI and provident fund for all construction workers, their compulsory enrollment in Welfare Board, recognition of Covid 19 as occupational disease, legislation for health, safety and social security as a matter of fundamental right, Covid assistance to all registered construction workers, review of closure of NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Plant, payment of 11 months’ salary to Neelachal Ispat Nigam regular employees and contact labourers and payment of 21 months’ salary to Bisra Limestone Quarry workers."The Minister assured us to take appropriate action in this regard," told Dr Khuntia.
