National president of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Jayant Chaudhary said that the announcement to repeal three farm laws was the victory of the country, farmers and ‘andolanjeevi’. He was speaking at Parivartan Sandesh Rally held in Baghra (Charthawal) in Muzaffarnagar on Saturday.
Taking a dig at the prime minister, Chaudhary said, “Modi ji is saying that his intention was good but they could not convince some farmers. The fact is that Modi failed in tricking the farmers. I want to tell the BJP that now the farmers have understood their real colours and the next generation has also understood that it is not easy to trick farmers. Now the farmers are not going to fall for their lies. The prime minister used to call the agitating farmers ‘andolanjeevi’ (those who survive on agitations). Now I say that forcing the prime minister to repeal the contentious laws, is the victory of these andolanjeevis.”
Lashing out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, the RLD president, said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that he had given up everything, but let me tell you that now the time has come and the Chief Minister has to quit.
“In 2017, the state had a debt of Rs 4 lakh crores, which has spiked to rs 6 lakh crores.  Today the government is even unable to pay salaries of its employees, but the propaganda of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the media continues around the clock. The speed with which power bills are increasing, a common citizen will be able to pay only these bills with his entire earnings in the coming time,” he said.
Invoking RLD founder late Chaudhary Ajit Singh, Jayant said that it was the result of foresightedness of Chaudhary Saheb that industries linked to sugarcane were started west Uttar Pradesh as the region is largest producer of sugarcane. “Due to this farmers also got the price of their sugarcane crop and thousands of youth got jobs.  Now the cane farmer is in trouble again. The law of payment of sugarcane in 14 days has become redundant in this government.  Now they are talking about removing this law so that the farmer is paid in installments,” he said.
The RLD leader said, “This government is only concerned about the interests of capitalists. Yogi ji says that if sugarcane prices are increased then the backs of capitalists will be broken.  After five years, the price has been increased even if it is so little that farmers of neighboring states Haryana and Punjab are being paid more than in UP. I urge farmers to be patient as this will be the last sugarcane season in which you will have to face difficulties. If our government is formed in 2022, farmers will get one and a half times the cost of their produce.”
