Jharkhand has clinched the first position in the recent ranking released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, based on the progress of the implementation of the Smart City Mission's schemes running in different 100 cities of the Country's 36 states and union territories.
At the same time, Jharkhand's Capital Ranchi has risen to 12th position in terms of progress of the ongoing mission plans in 100 cities. On the other hand, Delhi is at number 11 in the list of States and Union Territories and Bihar at number 27 and New Delhi Municipal Corporation is at number 41 and Bihar Capital Patna at 68th position in the list of cities. The Urban and Housing Development Department, Government of Jharkhand informed this through a press note.
Earlier, there was a system of issuing ranking in one month, fortnight, week by the Smart City Mission. But, now these rankings are updated frequently through the online process. In this ranking, the implementation and progress of the schemes run by the Smart City Mission are the basis and the points for various tasks are determined. Some important tasks on which scores are obtained are as follows.
It is worth mentioning that under the Smart City Mission in the State Capital, a new city is being constructed on 656 acres of land in the Dhurva region. The development of world class infrastructure for this city is taking place at a rapid pace. Development of roads, drinking water, power, drainage, sewerage, cycle lanes, pedestrians and others are in the final stages. The process of e-auction of plots identified for development in the field of residential, commercial, educational, health, and hospitality has also started and in the first phase, many plots have also been auctioned.
The Government of Jharkhand and Chief Minister, Hemant Soren are very serious about the development of Ranchi Smart City. Earlier, Soren and Chief Secretary, Sukhdeo Singh have also expressed satisfaction over the progress of the ongoing development plans in the Smart City during their review meetings and assured the people that the city would develop in line with the aspirations of the people.
On the same day, during his three-day visit to Jharkhand, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Union Government, Durga Shankar Mishra also expressed happiness after reviewing and physical inspection of the plans of Ranchi Smart City that this city is in Jharkhand and nearby will serve as a model city for the states.
Department Secretary, Vinay Kumar Choubey congratulated the entire team of Ranchi Smart City Corporation for getting the lead in the real-time rankings released by the Central Government. At the same time, CEO of Smart City Corporation, Amit Kumar has assured that during the development of Smart City, public participation has been taken care of.
