Manoj receives Lifetime Achievement award
Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Literary Festival has named its Mystic Kalinga Award and Mystic India Festival Lifetime Achievement Award after eminent writer Manoj Das, who died on Tuesday, festival director Rashmi Ranjan Parida announced on Thursday. Das had been honoured with the Mystic Kalinga Literary Award-Indian and Global Languages in 2020. In @021, he had spoken at the festival on :Divine Madness: Knowledge, Ecstasy, and Transformation”, which was the central theme of the festival.
Young Forester dies of corona
Athagarh: Forester Akshaya Pradhan, who was working under the Khuntuni Range, died of corona at the SCB Medical College Hospital on Thursday. Family members alleged that as his oxygen level didn’t improve, he was in dire need of an ICU bed, but the facility was not provided to him. Athagarh DFO Gopinath Sudarsan Jadav said they have intimated the Government regarding Pradhan’s untimely death and appealed for ex-gratia for his family.
One more Odisha journalist dies of Covid
Sambalpur: One more journalist, Manas Ranjan Jaipuria, died of Covid-19 on Thursday. He is survived by his wife and a teenage daughter. Manas had been working with ZEE News Odisha at its Noida office. Recently, he had come to his hometown here. Later, he was admitted to a private hospital here after testing positive for the virus.
Bhawanipatna news anchor dies of corona
Bhawanipatna: A TV news anchor, Bhanu Prakash Rath (45), a native of Bhawanipatna, died of corona on Thursday. He was undergoing treatment at a Visakhapatnam hospital for last 12 days. He was also a talented theatre artist and worked in the Radio station of Bhawanipatna and Doordarhan.
Khaira logs worth of 1.25L seized in Balangir
Balangir: A team of forest officials led by Balangir DFO Sameer Satpathy on Wednesday night conducted a raid in village Dhaunradadar, 45 km from here, and seized five tonnes of Khaira logs worth about Rs 1.25 lakh which were loaded in a mini truck. The truck and a motorcycle were also seized and a person identified as Dlilip Gochayat was arrested in this connection.
