Intercity trains to continue till further notice

For the convenience of passengers, seven pairs of Intercity Express Special Trains running from Patna, Rajendranagar Terminal, Danapur and Jayanagar to different stations will be operational till further notice. All seats in these special trains are reserved. Meanwhile, a revision has been made in the transit time of tri-weekly special train 09165/09166 Ahmedabad-Darbhanga-Ahmedabad. According to the revised time, this train will run from Ahmedabad on 27 January 2021 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and from Darbhanga on 31 January 2021 every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday till further notice. All coaches in this train will be reserved category and passengers traveling in it will have to follow the standards of Covid-19.

Floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

Vice Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, Dr Mukul Narayan Dev, gave a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi today on the occasion of Bapu’s death anniversary. A simple function was organised by the Gandhi Vinoba Jayprakash Chintan Kendra of the VBU. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr A K Sinha, registrar Dr Banshidhar Prasad Rukhaiyar and officers and teachers were present in the function.

CSR programme of Prabhat Khabar

Prabhat Khabar in association with Shalini Hospital organized a health camp for about 150 pregnant women of the village in Limda Brakuli Panchayat under Torpa and Karra block (about 60 km from Ranchi) and distributed food items for their proper nutrition. Even today, in the villages only a short distance away from the city, it is known that poverty is very much a disease and the problem of malnutrition, access to food etc is also there. During the health checkup it was found that a large number of women and children are anaemic and the weight of children was also less.

Martyrs’ Day at SBPS

Remembering the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, a special virtual assembly was organized on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day on Saturday. A heartfelt song was dedicated to the martyrs for their indelible valour. A two min silence was observed in honour of Mahatma Gandhi and other martyrs. To commemorate the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, children of the primary wing actively participated in virtual fancy dress competitions organized by the school. The little ones made beautiful cards as a token of gratitude to the martyrs. An inter house poetry recitation competition was conducted for the students of grade VI to VIII.

Dr Z A Haider to retire today

After serving the institution for nearly four decades, eminent plant breeder and Chairman, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU), Ranchi, Dr Z A Haider will retire on January 31, 2021. Last working day of his career being Sunday, he was accorded a warm farewell on Saturday at a function organized in the BoardRoom under the chairmanship of BAU Vice Chancellor Dr Onkar Nath Singh. Born, brought up and educated in Darbhanga district of Bihar, Haider joined BAU as Junior Scientist cum Assistant Professor, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding on July 19, 1982, assumed as directly recruited Senior Scientist cum Associate Professor on January 1, 1990 and promoted as Chief Scientist cum University Professor with effect from January, 1, 2000.
