Haryana on Thursday recorded the biggest single-day jump of 13947 COVID-19 cases and highest ever 97 fatalities that pushed the state’s cumulative tally to 474145 and the death toll to 4118. The active cases crossed the 90000-mark and was recorded at 93175 in the state. Among them, 67648 patients were in home isolation.
A day before, the state had reported 95 deaths and 12444 fresh infections.
According to the state’s health bulletin, Hisar reported the highest number of 12 deaths in the last 24 hours. 11 deaths each were reported in Ambala and Jind, nine each in Gurugram and Bhiwani, seven each in Faridabad and Panchkula, five each in Karnal, Palwal, Fatehabad, four each in Rohtak and Kaithal, three in Sirsa, two each in Sonipat, Kurukshetra and one in Nuh district.
The worst affected Gurugram district reported the highest ever 5042 fresh infections in a single day. 1563 cases were reported in Faridabad, 840 in Sonepat, 822 in Hisar, 750 in Karnal, 492 in Sirsa, 445 in Rohtak, 487 in Ambala, 461 in Panipat, 407 in Panchkula, 410 in Mahendragarh among other cases. Among 1267 critical COVID patients in the state, 1067 were on oxygen support while 200 were on ventilators, the bulletin stated.
The positivity rate was recorded at 6.88 percent while the recovery rate stood at 79.48 percent in Haryana.
The active cases increased to 33892 in Gurugam followed by 11887 active cases in Faridabad and 6802 in Hisar.
In the last 24 hours, the highest ever 9535 patients have recovered from the virus taking the total recoveries to 376852 in the state.
Till date, more than 73.44 lakh samples have been tested in Haryana, the bulletin stated.
COLLEGES AND INSTITUTIONS TO REMAIN CLOSE TILL MAY 31
Haryana Government on Thursday ordered that all colleges, coaching institutions, ITIs, libraries, training institutions whether government or private will remain closed till May 31 in the state. Apart from this, all anganwadi centres and crèches under the Women and Child Development Department shall remain closed till May 31. An order in this regard was issued by Vijai Vardhan, Chief Secretary.
