In view of surge in Covid-19 cases, Haryana Government on Wednesday announced summer vacation in schools till May 31.
Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal said that the schools will remain closed on account of summer holidays from April 22 to May 31. The summer vacation has been advanced in view of surge in Covid cases, he said
Earlier this month, the State Government had decided to close schools till April 30 for students up to class 8, but later the schools were shut for all classes.
Haryana board class X exam was also cancelled while class XII exams have been deferred.
However, teachers had been attending schools to prepare examination results of various classes.
The Minister said that the teachers have been regularly coming to schools and it was a major concern. Along with the safety of the children, safety of the teachers is also our responsibility, so the summer vacation has been declared in advance, he said.
On conducting Haryana Board class XII exams, the Minister said that exams will be definitely conducted for class XII. The decision whether it will be offline or online will be taken, as per the situation later, he added.
Notably, the state has witnessed a sharp increase in infections in the last two weeks. The number of active cases in the state has crossed 50000-mark.
