Former Chief Minister and head of election campaign committee of the Congress in Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat has objected to the word Ghasyari in the Mukhyamantri Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana (MGKY) launched by the Union Home minister Amit Shah on Saturday.
Talking to the media persons at Congress Bhawan here on Saturday, Rawat said women cannot be generally addressed on the basis of the works they perform.
He said that a normal woman in the villages performs works ranging from managing the house, working in fields and bringing fodder but calling them Ghasyari is an insult to them.
Rawat added that women of the state are bringing laurels in different fields and raising the head of the state in pride. He said that all political parties of the state should register their protest on this.
On the challenge thrown by Shah for a debate, Rawat said that he is ready to debate on any platform.
In response to the question on Shah’s claim that he had declared holiday on Friday for offering Namaz, Rawat said that Shah should prove this by showing the notification issued by his government in this regard.
The Congress leader claimed that the people of the state have decided to throw the BJP ‘lock stock and barrel’ out from Uttarakhand.
