Five-fold increase in accident related calls on Holi

The 108 emergency ambulance service responded to 534 emergency calls during Holi this year. The service reported a fivefold increase in the cases of accident related calls on the day. The General Manager (GM) projects of the service Anil Sharma said that 98 calls related to accidents were received on Holi. Similarly 125 calls related to pregnancy and 27 calls associated with heart were received on Holi. In addition, the birth of two children took place in the ambulances on Holi. He said that 238 calls concerned with Police were received on the day which was transferred to the police control room. The health workers aboard the ambulances helped in deliveries in Chakrata in Dehradun and Lohaghat of Champawat on the day. After the deliveries the newborns and their mothers were admitted in the nearest health centre.
