First ever CBSE Class XII results wihthout formal exams declared

With a score of 99.8 percent, Hiteshwar Sharma, a humanities student of Bhawan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, topped in the Chandigarh tricity in the Class-12 examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CBSE on Friday announced results for Class 12, the first ever result in which no formal examination was held.

Khushi and Yajas of Government Model High School Housing Board Complex, Chandigarh emerged as toppers of the Chandigarh city by securing 98.8 per cent marks. Khushi topped the Commerce stream in the city while Yajas in Humanities.  Janvi Gupta of Ryan International School, Chandigarh secured 98.4 per cent in commerce stream. Amritpal Singh, a student of Institute for The Blind, Sector-26, Chandigarh, has secured 94.8 percent marks.

Meanwhile, no merit list of toppers was announced this year as the exams were canceled due to Covid-19. The result has been prepared through internal assessment. The result of Panchkula region is 99.54 percent while the result of Chandigarh is 99.47 percent. Chandigarh region has been ranked seventh in the country.

According to information, around 18,000 students appeared in the exams in the tricity, across four streams: non-medical, medical, commerce and humanities.

Hiteshwar Sharma got a perfect score of 100 marks each in Sociology, Political Science, Economics and Physical Education and 99 marks in English. He had secured second rank in the country with 99.6 percent in class X. Hiteshwar Rajan said, “I want to get admission in Delhi University in Political Science and will soon start preparing for UPSC to serve the country.”

Janvi Gupta of Class 12 studying in Ryan International School, Chandigarh stood first rank in her school with 98.4 per cent in Commerce stream. Janvi said, “I have been consistent during Class 10 and Class 11 as well. I am so happy that for the first time my consistency has paid so well. 98.4 percent is actually like a dream to achieve. My family and teachers have been very supportive and they have been my constant motivators."

She further said, "I have big plans for the future and expect to outperform all my life. My future plan is to be a businesswoman and be my own boss. I want to use my intelligence to be a job creator, not a job doer.”

In St. John’s High School, Chandigarh, out of 139, 21 Class XII students secured above 90 per cent in commerce stream. Eight students of non-medical stream got above 90 percent marks. Five students of medical stream secured above 90 percent marks. Seven students of Humanities got above 90 percent marks.

St. John’s High School, Chandigarh Principal Kavita Das said, “Our sports students have also fared very well. Ketan Punj from the Humanities stream is a National level player in soft tennis. Hriday Malhotra also from Humanities is a UT medalist in Lawn Tennis and has got Silver Medal. Aditya Tuknait (National participation in Netball) and Shaurya Dua (National Participation in football), both from the Non-medical stream they have performed as All Rounders.”  CBSE released the Class 12 board result on Friday at 2 pm at cbseresults.nic.in. Students can check the individual score cards now.
