Farmers in Chhattisgarh have to pay more for Di-Ammonium Phosphate or DAP.
The Chhattisgarh State Marketing Federation (MARKFED) has said it bought fertilizers well before the Union government called for charging subsidized price from farmers.
According to the General Manager of MARKFED, the Centre ordered on May 20 that DAP must be made available at Rs 1,200 per standard bag but it was silent on the price paid by the state MARKFED before that date.
MARKFED had purchased 30,119 tonnes of DAP before that date and hence the old higher prices will be levied from the farmers, it said.
The price will be Rs 1,800-1,950 depending on the seller companies, it said.
The state government has urged the Union government to subsidize the fertilizer bought before May 20 and a reply is still awaited.
