E-vehicles are being encouraged to prevent environmental pollution and to control the expenditure on petrol and diesel. The Chief Engineer of the Corporation Bhuvnesh Kumar Patel informed that on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day, a road-show of electric vehicles was organised by the Corporation. The objective of the e-vehicles road-show is to make every citizen aware about energy-conservation, management and its utilisation under the energy literacy campaign started by the state government.

On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day (14th December), a road-show was organised in Bhopal on Saturday with a view to develop people’s responsiveness about the utility of electric vehicles and to create awareness among the general public towards them. A large number of e-rickshaws, e-scooters and e-four wheelers etc. were included in the road-show. The e-vehicles included in the road-show started from Urja Vikas Nigam premises and passed through different areas of the city, Titli Chowk, Link Road No.-1, New Market, Minto Hall, Police Control Room, Shaheed Smarak and returned to Urja Bhawan while passing through 6 Number.

E-mobility mission has been launched by the Government of India with a view to encourage electric vehicles. Apart from this, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Government of India has started "Go-Electric Campaign" to promote electric vehicles. The main objective of organising this road-show is to encourage more and more people to use electric vehicles.

Patel informed that 18 percent of the total energy is spent in the transport sector, in which about 94 million tonnes of oil is consumed. Promoting "electric vehicles" will save oil as well as save foreign exchange.

The Government of India has also launched Vishesh FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) to promote electric vehicles.
