The 66th Rail Week was organised following the Covid-19 protocol at 'Vaishali Auditorium' located at Hajipur Headquarters premises on Tuesday. It was inaugurated by the General Manager Lalit Chandra Trivedi by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, Additional General Manager, Ashok Kumar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer JKP Singh alongwith senior officials of all the divisions and railway personnel was present.
Trivedi rewarded the officers/employees of various departments working in the Headquarters by providing cash amount and citation for distinguished and outstanding service in the year 2020-21. Apart from this, efficiency and all round efficiency shield was also given among the departments/divisions for their excellent performance in various fields.
The GM, in his welcome address, said that Indian Railways has the distinction of being the lifeline of the country. Starting the journey on 16 April 1853, till now the Indian Railways system of more than 65,000 kilometers of railway lines, has not only threaded the country together, but it has also played a major role in economic and social progress. The contribution of railwaymen in this progress of Indian Railways has been remarkable. In view of their contribution, railway workers are being rewarded today for their encouragement.
He said that East Central Railway has crossed many milestones during its unforgettable journey since its inception.
In the year 2021-21, 140.17 million tonnes freight were loaded. During this, Dhanbad division earned Rs 14,297 crore from 133.42 million tonnes of shipments, becoming the first division of Indian Railways to earn the highest revenue from freight loading in the financial year 2020-21 despite the challenges of Covid-19. From the commercial point of view also, the year 2020-21 has been full of achievements for ECR. East Central Railway has earned an initial income of about Rs 16,469 crore in the financial year 2020-21. We have also made considerable progress in the area of development of rail infrastructure. In this sequence, the maximum speed limit of 132 trains has been increased from 110 km/h to 130 km/h. This has benefited a large number of passengers. We have introduced 33 new RRIs/PIs/EIs in 2020-21 with 219 major changes, which is the highest in a year not only for East Central Railway but probably for entire Indian Railways.
