Eco-friendly earthen diyas to lit Ayodhya this Deepotsav

Sunday, 31 October 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

In an attempt to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ this Diwali, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off vehicles carrying over one lakh eco-friendly earthen diyas made from cow dung to the holy city of Ayodhya on Saturday.

The eco-friendly earthen lamps made of cow dung have been prepared by Rashtriya Godhan Mahasangh for the grand Deepotsav to be held at Ayodhya this Diwali on November 4.

“As the auspicious occasion of Diwali marks the triumph of good over evil, our festivals must be celebrated in a way that causes no harm to nature. I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling us to celebrate the ‘grand’ Deepotsav at Ayodhya in an environment-friendly manner. The use of lamps made of cow dung will not only protect the environment but will also promote conservation of indigenous cattle in the country and encourage the use of cow dung-based products during the forthcoming festival. This is an attempt to boost the ‘Vocal for Local’ concept of the prime minister and swadeshi movement,” the chief minister said at his official residence in Lucknow.

Former Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party national vice-president Radha Mohan Singh, state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal and Principal Secretary to the CM, Sanjay Prasad, were among others present during the occasion.
