Drop gate near Netarhat School irks villagers

Sunday, 28 February 2021 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Villagers are irked by a drop gate fixed by the Netarhat Awasiya Vidyalaya management that passes through the campus of the school, said sources. They said the villagers find this drop gate a kind of curb on their day to day movement.

Sources said villages namely Aadhey, Bartoli Butwa Toli Mohan Paath, Paseeri Paath etc have demanded withdrawal of the drop gate.

The villagers’ contest this road is a survey road since long and in public use over the decades.

Principal of the Netarhat Awasiya Vidyalaya S K Singh said the apprehension of the villagers that there is any curb on their use of the road is misplaced and misunderstood.

The Principal said this drop gate is to check tourists' vehicles that often negotiate this road and care not a fig for the speed. He said that the students are there as it is their campus and hence their safety is the prime concern.

Singh said this month alone one lost life when a rash biker hit our boundary wall of the Shanti Ashram hostel and it was a sheer luck that there was no student then present there when this accident by rash driving took place.

Reminded that villagers are sore that with this drop gate tourists find it hard to reach the Sunset point to which Singh said this is untrue as there is already a well used road to reach the Sunset Point.

Sources said the Principal had well informed about

this fixing of drop gate to the SDO Mahuadanr copy of which has been sent to the principal secretary to the Chief Minister principal secretary to school education and literacy department and DC Latehar underlining the indispensability of the drop gate in the back drop of accidents and collision right on the campus of this school.
