A district-level competition on folk art, culture and dance competition was held at the Adi Kabi Sarala Das Sanskruti Bhawan here on Tuesday.
This competition aimed to promote the hidden talent among the artisans and performers at the grassroots level. As many as 16 Loka Kala troupes of the district performed Pala, Daskathia, Ghoda Nacha, Ghata Nrutya, and Sankritan. Among them, Maa Sarala Ghata Nrutya troupe from Kanak Pur of Tirtol stood first; Maa Ambika Pala Parishad bagged second and Maa Baseli Sanskrutika Parishad finished third rank among the Ghoda Nacha troups. The Maa Sarala Ghata Nrutya troupe was selected to participate in the upcoming State-level Loka Kala Mohatsava.
Additional District Magistrates Satchidananda Sahoo and Chinmayee Biswal, Educationist Mahendra Acharya, Sub-Collector Dharmendra Mallick attended the event as guests and District Culture Officer Kaminiranjan Patnaik coordinated it.
