Covid contagion continues to smash records

For the third consecutive day on Thursday the contagion of the Covid 19 scaled a new peak as the state health department reported 6251 new cases of the disease. The department also reported the death of 85 patients on the day. On Wednesday 6054 new patients had surfaced while on Tuesday 5703 cases were reported.

The state now has 174867 (cumulative) cases of the disease while the death toll has mounted to 2502 in the state. The authorities discharged 3129 patients from different hospitals following their recovery on Thursday. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 68.82 percent and the sample positivity rate is 4.66 percent in the state.

The contagion of Covid is continuing to be fatal in the state. In the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, Dehradun death of 16 patients was reported on Thursday. Similarly ten patients died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, nine at HNB base hospital Srinagar, eight each at Himalayan hospital and Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun, five at Vinay Vishal hospital Roorkee, four each at Kailash hospital Dehradun and Sanjeevni hospital Kashipur, and three each at Max hospital Dehradun and Prayas hospital Khatima Udham Singh Nagar. On the day two patients each succumbed to the disease at Arogyadham hospital Dehradun, Lehman hospital, Military hospital (MH) Dehradun and Arogyam hospital Haridwar. One patient each died at ONGC hospital Dehradun, Swami Bhumanand Haridwar, Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani, District hospital Rudraprayag, Medicity Rudrapur and District hospital Uttarkashi.

Dehradun district continues to reel under the onslaught of the disease as 2207 patients were reported on Thursday. Haridwar district reported 1163, Udham Singh Nagar 827, Nainital 673, Pauri 253, Almora 198, Uttarkashi 195, Tehri 163, Champawat 157, Chamoli 125, Bageshwar 107, and Pithoragarh 33 new patients of Covid-19 on Thursday.

 The state now has 48318 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 17429 patients, Haridwar has 11399, Nainital 5604,  Udham Singh Nagar 3771, Pauri 2381, Tehri 1535, Champawat 1352, Almora 1108, Chamoli 1000, Uttarkashi 909, Pithoragarh 616, Rudraprayag 624 and Bageshwar 590 active cases of the disease. A total of 42136 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Thursday. In the state 392546 people have been fully vaccinated while 1634180 beneficiaries have been partially vaccinated. The authorities organised 518 vaccine sessions in different parts of the state on Thursday.
