A 36-year-old youth, resident of Khuda Alisher, Chandigarh who was infected with Covid-19 allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his house on Friday. He was brought dead to GMSH-16. According to UT Chandigarh’s medical bulletin, he was tested Covid-19 positive posthumously. This is the first Covid-19 related death reported in nearly a month in the city.
The bulletin stated that Chandigarh, the joint capital of Haryana and Punjab on Friday, reported four new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours. Chandigarh now has 36 active cases with an average positivity rate of 0.28 per cent over the last seven days. 1,572 tests were conducted over the last 24 hours. Chandigarh recorded four new recoveries over the same period.
HARYANA RECORDS 3 DEATHS, 26 CASES
Three people died from coronavirus in Haryana on Friday as 26 fresh cases surfaced, taking the state’s infection count to 7,69,884. The disease has claimed 9,633 lives in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. According to a Health Department bulletin, the fresh deaths were reported from Hisar, Panipat and Nuh districts.
Eight cases were from Gurgaon and four from Yamunanagar. The total active cases in the state were 712.
