The Chhattisgarh government has suspended the Manager of the cooperative society in Piparchhedi village in Balod district for negligence after some farmers were injured during distribution of tokens ahead of paddy procurement, it was announced on Monday.
The Chief Executive Officer of the District Cooperative Bank suspended Manager Yashwant Kumar Sahu for negligence, an official statement said.
The government has called for providing tokens to the farmers for smooth procurement of paddy on support price in cooperative societies and procurement centers from December 1.
The Manager on Monday called the farmers for tokens in all the villages belonging to the Piparchhedi cooperative society.
A chaotic situation led to overcrowding, resulting in some vllagers getting injured. They were discharged after first aid, the statement said.
After the incident, Balod Collector Janmejay Mahobe and Superintendent of Police Sadananad Kumar took stock of the arrangements at the Piparchhedi cooperative society.
