Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel offered prayers on occasion of Mahashivaratri here at Mahadev Ghat and Sarkeshwar Nath Mahadev temple on Thursday for progress and prosperity of people of state.
The Chief Minister first visited popular Hatkeshwar Mahadev temple at Mahadev Ghat and offered prayers.
He then offered prayers and participated in the rituals at Sarkeshwar Nath Mahadev temple in village Sarkhi of Abhanpur, in Raipur district. He also dedicated the renovation work of the temple.
Addressing the event, he said it is one of the ancient religious centres as historical facts point out that ‘Shivling’ was established in 8th century.
Chief Minister made brief reference to all the steps taken by state government for development and economic progress of villages, poor, workers, Scheduled Caste and Tribe, women and other categories through different welfare schemes.
He directed the officials to prepare proposals for ensuring adequate numbers of teachers in the school and re-construction of the damaged school building. He also announced the beautification work of village Kolar pond and opening of District Cooperative Bank branch.
He also declared to construct a water-tank in the village for drinking water. The Chief Minister urged the women and children to take care of their health and education.
Abhanpur MLA Dhanendra Sahu also addressed the gathering.
