CM: Make women police personnel in-charges of PS

Aiming to empower women under Mission Shakti Abhiyan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that women police personnel should be made in-charges of police stations and the number of women constables should be increased.

“'Aimed for the safety, dignity and self-reliance of women, Mission Shakti Abhiyan has a positive impact on society and now it needs to be taken to the ground level. Various programmes implemented in the direction of women's self-reliance are getting positive results. Therefore, it is necessary to give further impetus to Mission Shakti,” the chief minister said while reviewing the progress of Mission Shakti campaign in Lucknow on Friday.

On this occasion, a presentation was made before the chief minister about the implementation of the third phase of Mission Shakti. Making the presentation, ADG Neera Rawat gave detailed information about the departments participating in this campaign, the outline of work to be done in future and department-wise action plan. IG, Lucknow Range, Laxmi Singh also made a presentation on the Phase 3 of Mission Shakti.

After watching the presentations, the chief minister directed officials to limit the number of departments added in this campaign from five to seven and said that only major departments like Home, Health, Education, Urban Development, Women Welfare and Child Development and Nutrition should be included in Mission Shakti.

Seeking detailed information regarding the disposal of complaints registered on '1090' Women Powerline, Yogi said that their effective disposal should be done which could satisfy the complainant.

“Policewomen should be made beat in-charges in police stations of the state and help desks should be set up in police stations to assist women should be operated effectively. Women coming to the police station should be given full assistance through the helpdesk. CCTVs could play an important role in providing security to women and therefore, it should be ensured that all CCTVs are in working condition and arrangements are made for proper street lighting,” he said.

The chief minister was apprised that the cooperation of the Information department would be taken for publicity regarding Mission Shakti and the department would develop a portal for works done under the project and display all information. Also, wide publicity would be ensured through FM radio stations, print media, billboards and television.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary (Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Monika Garg and Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla also gave their presentations on Phase-3 of Mission Shakti.
