Unidentified miscreants broke into a house at Jhimala village under the Lock police station in Jagatsinghpur district and looted cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh at gunpoint late on Wednesday night.
Around 12 dacoits reportedly came by a Bolero SUV and bikes and barged into the house while all the family members were asleep. Later, they tied up the family members and forced them to take some intoxicating drinks. When the family members became unconscious, they decamped with the cash and jewellery.
The dacoits were conversing in Hindi as well as in Odia. Some family members who fell ill for taking the intoxicating drinks were admitted to hospital on Thursday morning A case has been registered in this connection and investigations are ongoing, police said.
